Writing this story was a great deal of fun. Growing up, the 'Choose your own adventure' style books intrigued me and I always wanted to know every possible ending.

I didn't set out with a specific plan when I started this story, but more so a general concept of limitless possibilities in outer space and in different time periods. What turned up was a fairly unpredictable and imaginative journey.

About the Author

I believe we can all accomplish what we aim for if we persist in the face of obstacles. Even if your goals seems out of reach for now, they are not. There is always a path to your goals, even if at first glance it seems riddled with thorns.

This is what my stories are primarily about. Something we can all relate to is the need to overcome obstacles.

I write so that children and adults can understand the stories. Adults often forget what they are truly capable of. I hope that my stories motivate you to have the courage to pursue your vision, even when the odds are stacked against you - and most of all, to encourage the children.

I remember these from when I was a kid! Everyone loves Choose Your Own Adventure books!

What kid doesn't like choose your own adventure books?

I remember having these when I was a child, and when I saw this available on Kindle, I knew I had to pick it up! I work over the summers running STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) based camps for upper elementary and middle school age children. Something silly like this as a class read-aloud is loads of fun, and something entertaining to do while we wait for all of the students to arrive in the morning. The kids love hearing the story, voting on a "what do you do?", and then hearing the results of their decision!

Action, fun and adventure is what I got with this action adventure book. It is an interactive book, You can make your own choices and travel in time, the unique thing is that your adventure is different each time you read the book. Get ready and enjoy your journey.

I did enjoy this interactive book that allowed me to have my own adventure. I also loved to have a different ending every time I read the story. It is very cool to play while you read. It is like having several stories all in one book. To me that was a nice deal.

Judge this book by it's cover!

This review applies specifically to the April 2010, Sterling Edition, illustrated by Robert Ingpen:
I'm beginning to feel quite frustrated with the limited publishing information given to books on Amazon. For example, most books where you may click to "look inside" will default to the most common paperback. For books like Tom Sawyer, that is fine if you need the book for high school English class, where any copy cheap enough to write notes in the margins will do. I wanted a copy of Tom Sawyer to keep and love. I saw this publication on Amazon, but it had so little info and the one review given was a single sentence about the general value of Twain's story. The truth is, one doesn't buy this particular printing unless one is already convinced of it's literary excellency! So I am about to do Amazon a huge favor by telling you what it didn't tell me. For about $15, the asking price at the time of this review, you can invest in a real treat for your self or someone you love and wish to inspire.
This printing was meant to mark the one hundredth anniversary of Twain's death (2010). The story is unabridged, provided in full original text. It is positively rich with watercolor illustrations by Robert Ingpen. I just skimmed through the book looking for one that I especially liked, but I couldn't pick just one. In design, they are exactly as I would have dreamed them to be. Barefoot Tom, balancing a piece of straw on his nose, Huck Finn with a dead cat, Tom and puppy in church, Injun Joe- terrifying....each one pulls me in to read the text. The fabulous, wrapping cover art is also printed at the end of the book, so won't be lost if the dust jacket is damaged. The sewn binding is well constructed and the book lays nearly flat when open, so you may enjoy all of the pictures and layout without damaging the book. The inclusion of a pale blue place marking ribbon is a lovely touch. There is a thoughtful biography of Mark Twain proceeding the story. Also, provided are the author's and illustrators notes.
I have a boy, six going on seven. He is a reader and is happy to consume Magic Tree House and Box Car Children books at alarming speed under the covers at night when he is supposed to be asleep. I'll admit I was missing our former habit of reading together. So we read classics aloud together as a family. For less money than a video game this book will provide hours of family entertainment. I hope my son will be inspired to read it again and again. It will have a place in our library and be a reference for years to come. It is heirloom quality. It would make a very special gift to a favorite boy of any age. In fact, I am considering getting another copy for my father, who loves Twain.
Incidentally, not being able to ascertain the quality of this book through the Amazon web site, I went to a little local bookstore where I could put my hands on it first. I ended up buying it there, paying full price- about $5 more than Amazon was asking. They wrapped the book for free in nice heavy paper and since there was no shipping- I think I came out better for it. Before my son had opened this package, he knew it was a book to be awed by. Awesome it is- mostly for Mark Twains' masterful kntting of prose, but also for the cover and publishing.

This edition is not abridged!

I just want to point out that this hardcover Everyman's Library edition is not abridged. Most of the reviews posted here apply to the Signet mass market edition, which apparently is abridged. The Everyman's edition contains both novels in full.

Sure, the title is a bit risque (& hard to 'search' for...), but, IMHO, it's a hot, awesome, & emotionally-packed story which is worth the effort! Fans of M/M erotic love stories will be turned-on & thrilled by this story ...I know I was! Monty, the Secret Service agent, & Hank, the President's partying, gay son have a clash of wills before events happen which change their lives forever. I highly recommend this story ...thumbs up! ;)

I loved this book...what's not to love. The bratty Presidents son...the hot, sexy secret service agent. It's bound to lead for trouble of the smexy kind. The fact that Montague actually gets Hank and why he acts out the way he does makes this a great read.

A Thrilling Mystery

This book jumps back and forth from the past to the present. It's about a genealogist who's trying to find whatever happened to a client's grandfather who mysteriously disappeared out of his mother's life when she was young. Or so the family story goes. When I was nearing the conclusion, I just couldn't put the book down til I was finished!

Fascinating family history mystery

Enjoyed the story structure as told how information was uncovered (flashback sequences). Brief glimpses of the author's life as the story unfolds provide humour, and the telling addiction that family history research can be for researchers! The conclusion provided a satisfying and plausible explanation about 'Where's Merrill?'.

Yes Genealogy type story but not a thriller or exciting, far too confusing.

I like genealogy and the art of seeking the answers, but this book left me lost, it was confusing and the way it jumped back and forth to the past time took away any excitement of the chase. It was poorly written and the only reason I give it 3 stars it did finally get the result but even that sort of just happened.
