Great love story!

I couldn't put this book down! Loved it! Romance and mystery. Action and passion. This book takes you through all of them. Reese and Ethan are an unlikely pair and would never have crossed paths were it not for his missing sister and nephew. He grew up with wealth, she in foster homes. Their growing feelings for each other intensify throughout this descriptive story. Now I can't wait to read Hopscotch!

About the Author
Dr. Duane Gibson Cuthbertson is the founder of five Christian organizations: Huron Valley Youth for Christ, WYFC Radio (first contemporary Christian radio), World Bible Quiz Organization, Association of Christian Students, and Growing Together Ministries, a nonprofit organization he has directed for thirty years. The former chairman of the psychology departments at Bryan College and William Tyndale College, he currently teaches at Spring Arbor University.
An outstanding lecturer and seminar leader, Duane has spoken at numerous conferences and conventions including Youth for Christ, Association of Christian Schools International, and the International Sunday School Association. He has been privileged to lead the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and the University of Michigan football team in devotions.
Duane is the author of four books, including "Raising Your Child Not Your Voice" (Victor), which sold sixty thousand copies in four languages, and "The Marriage Manual" (Horizon House). He and his wife have five children and eighteen grandchildren.

About the Author

Dr. Annemaree Carroll is Associate Professor in the School of Education at The University of Queensland. Her research activities focus on the self-regulatory processes of adolescent behaviour, and child and adolescent behaviour disorders. The research program has been sustained over 10 years and has resulted in original and substantive contributions to the field. The most significant contributions have been the advancement of proactive interventions (Mindfields™) in behaviour change for young people at–risk and the development of a social-cognitive model for predicting at-risk and delinquent behaviours. Also of importance has been the development of psychometrically sound instruments for use in the study of self-regulatory processes. Dr Carroll has conducted numerous large-scale studies and developed a number of reliable and robust instruments. The continued success in attracting external funding (14 competitive grants) is evidence of the quality others attribute to her research. Her publications over the past 10 years are also evidence of sustained research and international recognition in internationally peer reviewed journals.
Professor Stephen Houghton’s research activities focus on developmental disorders of childhood and adolescence particularly in relation to executive functions, and developmental trajectories to delinquency and the mediating effects of self-regulation. Within the past he has initiated research to examine the construct of child psychopathy and the development of antisocial behaviour. Professor Houghton has extensive knowledge and experience of children with developmental disorders, and disruptive behaviour disorders in both practice and research, and is sought regularly as an expert by the media. Professor Houghton has developed a number of reliable instruments with Associate Professor Carroll and has been successful in attracting externally competitive funding (15 grants) and producing publications in internationally peer reviewed journals. A major aspect of the research conducted by Professor Houghton is its innovative nature in tapping into ecologically valid domains and from this developing new theories and intervention strategies.
Kevin Durkin is Professor of Psychology at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. He received his PhD from the University of Cambridge and has taught at universities in the UK and Australia. He is a developmental social psychologist with primary interests in social and communicative development, adolescent problem behaviour, and media use by young people. He has held numerous research grants in these fields, and has published several books and over 120 articles. He serves regularly as a consultant to government and industry bodies concerned with the wellbeing of young people.
John Hattie is Professor of Education at Auckland University. His areas of interest are measurement models and their applications to educational problems, including item response models, structural equation modelling, measurement theory, and meta-analysis. Substantive areas include study skills, performance indicators and evaluation, self-concept, models of teaching and learning, and educational psychology. He currently directs the TTle Project (www.asTTle.org.nz), is chief moderator of the Performance Based Research Fund, editor of the International Journal of Testing, an associate editor of the British Journal of Educational Psychology. He has supervised $25m in research grants, published and presented over 450 papers, and supervised 150 theses students.

Hero to Zero by Zach Fortier is a true account of how cops go bad. From start to finish, follow Zach as he meets good men who take a wrong turn, men and women who really should not have joined the police force, and those who were simply misguided and led astray. Most names have been changed to protect identities, but all of the characters are known to Zach Fortier and are people he has worked with during his 30 years on the police force. Murder, drug abuse, sexual abuse, theft, you name it, it's all in the book. This is a rarely seen look into the shadier side of policing; the part no one wants you to see. It's the stories of lives destroyed, of careers that go down in flames, and officers that crash and burn, sometimes in spectacular and very public style.

Hero to Zero by Zach Fortier is one of the best non-fiction books I have read in a long time. It's a fascinating insight into the dirty lives that some cops lead, some of which leave a bad taste in the mouth. It's an extremely well written book - very clear and concise, easy to understand and follow and very little jargon. When Zach uses jargon, he takes the time to explain what it means in simple terms. I very much want to read other books that Zach Fortier has written about his life in the police force, especially if they are as good as this one was. About the Author
Zach Fortier was a police officer for over 30 years, specializing in K-9, SWAT, gang, domestic violence and sex crimes as an investigator. He has written five books about Police work. "Curbchek" the first book is a case by case account of the streets as he worked them from the start of his 30 career. "Streetcreds" the second book details time Zach Spent in a Gang task force and the cases that occurred. The third book is by far the most gritty: "Curbchek-Reload". In "Curbchek-Reload" Zach is damaged and dangerously so, suffering from PTSD and the day to day violence of working the street. "Hero To Zero" is Zach's fourth book and recalls cops he worked with that were incredibly talented but ended up going down in flames, some ended up in jail, prison and one on the FBI's ten most wanted list. Zach's fifth book is just out and is titled "Landed On Black" and covers the constant state of hyper-vigilance required to survive the double crosses and betrayals that occurred on the streets and in the police department. Zach's latest book "I am Raymond Washington", provides the reader with an unprecedented look into the life of the original founder of the Crips gang. Filled with eyewitness accounts and recollections from friends and family give the reader a look into the life of the Original Crip. If you like True Crime, take a look at Zach Fortier. Hard to read

Although I liked the stories and enjoyed the authors' other books, this book was extremely lacking in proofreading. Grammar was bad, punctuation was poor. Wrong words were used or omitted entirely. I almost quit the book halfway thru due to this but stuck with it since I have enjoyed this author. You really need to fix this. Bad.

Update: The author has made great efforts to improve the ebook. It is a must-read.

Fortier gets a Zero for this Book

The editor must not have been paying attention when they let this piece of rubbish roll off the presses. The grammar and writing style are both sub par to say the least.
Fortier continues to repeat the same phrase, the same euphemism over and over to brow-beat it into his obviously dense audience that the subject character is 'nervous', 'hiding something'....
Then he revels in the demise of the character. The subjects in this book can take solace that they are at least unnamed while Fortier has his name attached to this 'Sleep Walking', Ann Rule book.

It is my opinion that you can find much more pleasant and worthy books for free than this rot.
Heroes to Zeros must have been self published.........

Sorry to be negative, but this is a horrible style of writing and a book you will take nothing from.

The Ugly Truth

In his typical raw, rough and real style, Zach Fortier brings another page-turner of a book! One filled with tales about cops that decided to walk on the wrong side of the law for a variety of reasons.

And what happens when they fall from they pedestal that we have placed them on.

Some of the fallen more than deserved to no longer wear a badge. When they get their comeuppance, you can't help but smile. And Zach's unabashed, unapologetic words leave no room to wonder exactly how he feels about the situation!

Others, that started out with the true heart and soul of a crime-fighter, succumb to the deadly lure of worldly traps. When they take their nosedive, you can't help but cringe.

A realistic look inside the lives of the people that carry a badge, and what happens when they tarnish it.

Gripping and intense, so if you are a Fortier Fan, grab this one!

Of all the colorful characters that inhabited the West during the 19th century, the most famous of them all is Wyatt Earp (1848-1929), who has long been regarded as the embodiment of the Wild West. Considered the "toughest and deadliest gunman of his day", Earp symbolized the swagger, the heroism, and even the lawlessness of the West, notorious for being a law enforcer, gambler, saloon keeper, and vigilante. The Western icon is best known for being a sheriff in Tombstone, but before that he had been arrested and jailed several times himself, in one case escaping from prison, and he was not above gambling and spending time in “houses of ill-fame”.

The seminal moment in Earp’s life also happened to be the West’s most famous gunfight, the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, which famously pitted Earp, his brothers Morgan and Virgil, and Doc Holliday against Billy Clanton, Tom McLaury and Frank McLaury. Though the gunfight lasted less than a minute, it is still widely remembered as the climactic event of the period, representing lawlessness and justice, vendettas, and a uniquely Western moral code. For Earp, the aftermath led to assassination attempts on his brothers, one of which was successful, touching off the “Earp Vendetta Ride”.

By the end of the 19th century, Earp was already a poignant symbol of that time and day, having permanently etched his name in the folklore of the West, but he stayed out west, engaging in everything from gold mining to vigilante justice on the Mexican border. A living legend, he even served as an adviser to early Hollywood, which was already pumping out Western movies. When he died in 1929 at the age of 80, one of the West’s toughest fighters and one of its longest survivors had finally passed.

Good Life Lessons

Tori really got into the "work was her whole life" scenario. She was really good at her job but didn't really have much of a life outside of work. Her boyfriend was just a convenience. I loved how the Lord changed her life and helped her see the real meaning of life again. It's okay to work but it shouldn't be everything to you. Slowly she starts changing when she has to go back to home and care for her dear aunt and little cousin. I liked how she reconnected with a guy from high school and also that she was able to keep working remotely.

Someone to watch over me

Someone to watch over me is a book you'd want to read over and over when you are in need of a spiritual outlook - encouragement - on issues you may be facing... to you needing that warm fussy feeling when you read how loving and caring relationships are built... to you just needing to laugh. That Cassandra is hilarious!! :) Those are all the things I felt while reading this book. Great book!

I'm looking forward to reading more by Michelle Stimpson.

wickedly entertaining

These are stories of disaster and disappointment, but somehow the victims seem to deserve their twisted fate. The stories are reminiscent of medieval morality plays, although the morals are not always in line with Christian teachings. Dahl describes his characters in such delicious detail, and makes the reader like or dislike them seemingly at will. But when all is said and done, they are all pathetically human, and often hilariously so.

Even better than the first one

The first edition of this text, in my opinion, set the standard for orthopaedic examination texts. I didn't think the second edition would be better, but it is. All the content has had considerable and valuable updates, incorporating the most recent research (up to 2010). The content is also organized better and it's easier to find specific tests you're looking for. The first text had separate sections for reliability and validity, which sometimes made learning about a specific test cumbersome. This edition has this info. grouped together and it's much easier to learn everything you need to know about a specific test quickly. Additionally, there are recommendations at the beginning of each chapter that provide a "down and dirty" summary of the most pertinent evidence-based recommendations to consider when evaluating a given region (i.e. cx spine, hip, etc...). These are surprisingly helpful when you only have a few minutes to review.

Like the first edition, the test descriptions are crystal clear and easy to understand. All of the content is presented from an evidence-based perspective and clearly referenced. Tests are described exactly as they were in the published research. Drawings, photos and illustrations are first rate (Netter). This text would be worth the cost solely for an anatomy text. But add in all the invaluable clinical information and it's a bargain.

I direct an internship, and this text get's pulled out to answer questions (or end arguments) from interns at least 3-4 times a day. It is a "must-have" for anyone who practices or teaches in an outpatient orthopaedic clinical setting.

Buy this book and you will become a better clinician and diagnostician. It's that simple.

Plucked from the crowd during the show, Jess makes her way backstage. The encore may have ended on stage, but the real show is just about to begin.
