WOW!! MUST READ!

I was like awww man this is only a novella but once I started reading OMG what a novella it is!!!
It's hot,it's sexy and boy oh boy do these two have major chemistry, my cheeks were a bright shade of red in a few scenes, I absolutely loved it! I won't give away any spoilers but THIS is how a novella is meant to be written! Start, middle and ending were perfect and it was wrapped up fabulously! Congratulations Lauren Blakely, Pretending he's Mine is my top novella so far for 2013!!

Review: Pretending He's Mine by Lauren Blakely

This was definitely a fun, cute read. It was just what I needed after reading a pretty heavy dark fantasy book. :) There wasn't a whole lot of depth to this story, but it was such an enjoyable read. Sutton calls upon Reeve to pretend to be her fiancee so she can land the job opportunity of a lifetime. In exchange, Reeve will also get the shot at one of the biggest leading male acting roles in the business.

I really liked Sutton and Reeve. Blakely did a great job of creating fun, flirty characters who quickly started blurring the lines of what was pretend and what was real. I think that was my favorite part of reading this book! Watching Sutton and Reeve struggle between deciding whether or not the other was truly acting a role was too much fun.

I personally think Reeve was a little more open that Sutton was. Sutton ran hot and cold, which drove Reeve crazy. One minute he'd think she actually wanted him and felt something more and the next he was confused by her withdrawn, hard nature. Watching him call her out on it in the wine cellar- ooh la la la! :)

Overall, if you're in the mood for a quick, light, enjoyable read- this book is a good choice!

Oh Reeve...You Rock My World!

Lauren Blakely's novella follow-up to Caught Up In Us is a 5 Star wonder. I love novellas and wished more authors wrote them. They are the perfect size to squeeze into a lazy morning or for a few hours when you can't sleep at night. At any rate, this was a great love story. I liked it because the relationship starts off the way I think most do...with intense attraction (or in this case, lust). Major like, and then love, develops later. This story follows the lust part of the relationship and it is H-O-T. You will never go to a theater production or library again without thinking about Reeve and Sutton.

I completely loved Reeve. Sutton I didn't quite warm up to but in hindsight, I think it's because her character was true to her heritage. She was British and a film industry higher up. She was supposed to be cool and untouchable. That didn't last long the more she got to know Reeve.

Great read...get it now!!!

Melodramatic nonsense

This book is just plain silly. The whole thing, including the sex scenes, is overblown and melodramatic. I've read the entire Nauti series prior to this one, and this is by far the worst of the bunch. I enjoyed the others.

The narration is awful. The voices and accents of the various characters change willy nilly, and sometime the men sound like squeaky women. It's also possible that my lack of enjoyment of the sexy bits was due to the narrator's "passionate" over-the-top delivery. It was hard to take.

I'd have given the book one star, but I gave it an extra point for being free.

There are lots of things that happen in the story, and that might sustain the interest level for some readers, but the fact that absolutely nothing was resolved, and the story just abruptly ends, is a huge turn-off.

Go ahead and read it if you're interested in what happens to Piper and Jed, but don't expect much.

Leigh knows how to write hot and sexy scenes!

This genre is a bit of a stretch for me, but I wanted to try something a little out of my comfort zone. Even though it is labelled as "Erotic Romance/Erotica," it feels very much like a Romantic Suspense novel only with more graphic sex.

Leigh wastes no time in getting right into the naughty bits! Piper Mackay is a 24 year-old woman who lives with her two sisters at Mackay's Bed & Breakfast Inn owned by her mother in Somerset, Kentucky. She has had a crush for the past year on the man who has been staying in the room next to hers, Jedidiah "Jed" Booker. He says that he is in the construction trade and is working on some projects in town, but Piper has her suspicions that there is more to him than meets the eye. She lets herself into Jed's room, presumably to clean it, just as Jed exits from the shower in just a towel. In the next moment, the two are in a hot clinch and Piper is pressed up against the wall with her legs wrapped around his waist. They get interrupted, and Piper is thankful because she worries that Jed is as controlling as her half-brother, Dawg. Jed scrawls his telephone number in her journal and tells her to call him when she's ready to give him a chance.

Piper is a small-scale fashion designer and dreams of hitting the big time. Dawg and her male cousins are very overprotective of Piper and her sisters, and none of them can go anywhere unaccompanied by a chaperone. When Piper receives a letter from a fashion mogul in New York expressing an interest in her designs, she sneaks away without telling anyone that she is leaving the state. She ends up getting roughed up in her hotel room just as she is checking out of the hotel, and her purse with her identification is stolen. The hospital staff find Jed's phone number in Piper's journal and call him to ask for permission to treat Piper who is unconscious. The knight in shining armour rides out to Piper's rescue.

There is no question that Leigh can write hot and sexy scenes. I was okay with that, even though this book is a lot more explicit than what I am used to. What I am not okay with is reading about a woman getting knocked around. Poor Piper gets assaulted by men on two separate occasions, and the second time she wound up in the hospital with a concussion. I do not know enough about Leigh's work to know whether this is a common element in her books, but I didn't like it.

I love Alpha males who are protective, but I don't care for overbearing and domineering. Jed does not have these negative qualities, but Dawg and Piper's cousins are control freaks. At the end of the book when Piper is just about to find out the truth about what is going on, she decides she does not need to know and walks away and leaves the matter in the hands of Dawg and her cousins to deal with. What?!? Piper is way too subservient for my liking.

This novella is part of the Nautier and Wilder anthology by Leigh and Jaci Burton, which is also a part of Leigh's popular Nauti series. Even though I haven't read any other books in the Nauti series, I didn't have any difficulty in following along.

There were definite parts of the story that I didn't like, but I think the racy parts made up for it! Overall, I enjoyed it but I do not think that I will read any other books in the Nauti series. It sounds like Leigh's Breeds series, which are Paranormal Romances, would be more enjoyable for me, and I will be trying it out.

Manxie Hardy is a new-to-me narrator, and she was okay but some of her male vocalizations grated on me. Dawg sounded like a redneck brute with more brawn than brains.

The everyday entrepreneur shares the tale of a group of new potential entrepreneurs fighting over their everyday fears of what it means to take own your own business. Its a very engaging story that will hook you in right from the very first chapter.

I truly enjoyed the core teachings in the book. They connect with the everyday fears we undergo when deciding to take on our own business. It shows how one of the most important components of entrepreneurship mindset and the ability to conquer our fears.

I would recommend this book to both new entrepreneurs considering taking the leap into entrepreneurship and veterans wanting to explore mentoring.

This book is an excellent read as it brings to light the very core of the human spirit pursuing individual effort and initiative while fighting fear and indecision. The Everyday Entrepreneur emboldens you to pursue with tools to address this fear.

Fred Dawkins draws you in with three dimensional characters that wrestle with the same uncertainties you have, but are also yearning for something more. He addresses these issues directly through the myriad of life lessons Fred has pooled together from a collection of entrepreneurs and successful individuals.

He tells the story so clearly that even junior business students like myself and seasoned entrepreneurs that often struggle, are able to take away key lessons right away. I find myself already following these lessons and applying them immediately with the entrepreneurs I am involved with.

There is a deep and insightful macro perspective that Fred brings out in the book and this is crucial towards understanding the future role of the entrepreneur as economies continue to evolve.

A lifetime of learning is passed to you in the two weeks in a cottage that this story takes place in. You will have the tools to make the most of the canvas in front of you after reading this book.

Great book to explore entrepreneurship

I was drawn to this book because of quote on the back: “the most important skill in the 21st century will be the ability to create your own job.” It has been a challenge for me to find a job that I enjoy, in a field that I truly aspire to work in. So entrepreneurship has been on my mind. But because of my limited experience with business, entrepreneurship has also been a daunting notion.

I appreciate this book because Fred eases you into the concepts of entrepreneurship: from the mindset, to laid out plans, to sound advice. All told through a narrative of characters who are considering entrepreneurship. There is an abundance of advice, mixed in with the humanity of aspirations, doubt, and fortitude. Each of the characters is approachable and I find myself relating to their experiences. It’s a great book and a wonderful read. I highly recommend it to those who, like me, wonder what it takes to be an entrepreneur.

Chip has an eye on the future

Chip is being raised in a society that for the most part is organized and has its resources adjusted by computer. There are no fights, no need to shave, and no diseases. Everyone is living at least to 32. What more could one ask for. Then there are in theory a few misfits that haven't been to see their counselors and evidently not taking their medicine. You guest it, Chip is just determined that It is ridicules to have computers determine your life. He at lest does not want them to control his life. This book has many twists and turns. Some you will guess and some you won't. So be prepared.

Naturally working in Information Systems I can not bring my self to enjoy the ending. Now it is fun to compare this work with "Brave new World" by Aldous Huxley for attitude and "1984" by George Orwell, for subterfuge. Others compare with "Logan's Run" by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson, for the age thing and corrective action. They missed two good ones. They are "Kurt Vonnegut's Harrison Bergeron" (1995) for that brain numbing effect and "Gattaca" (1997) for the genetic thing.

Great Product for dyslexics and right brain learners

These books are great for a child who has trouble learning to read. What's awesome is that when you load it into Kindle, there is a font for dyslexics. You can also change the background to black so that the words stand out better to the reader. The stories are all different, but each one builds on and adds new word families and sight words. The only thing I don't like, is the pictures. I want my child to create his own pictures in his head.

Always in the company of his Russian Blue cat 'Uncle Joey,' he travels through the dregs of humanity and finds solace in all that is filthy and deplorable; the junkie ecosystem, a throng of parasitical people feeding off of each other in Building #1, the abode of a certain old man named Ralphy, known by all as The Cockroach Prince.

As the maze of characters gets more dangerous and some seek to destroy him, there are players behind the scenes that believe he can overcome, including his eccentric mother Marina, an unknown yet benevolent ghost, Father Corbin, an unconventional priest with unique spiritual abilities and insight, and Slade, the Indian Warrior who tries to introduce him to the purging ceremonies of his people.

The character's only human support comes from friends like Jim, a half-white, half-Cherokee freight train of violence and frantic drug consumption; Martin, the chronically-addicted former mob boss and city overlord, and Jonathon, a newly-orphaned youth who admires the main character and has himself given up on life.

But time is running out. As the character’s self destruction breeds more intense psychological suffering, the visions turn darker and more sinister; demonic apparitions begin to appear in his Mind's Eye and even in his tangible reality. . He is thus catapulted into the very center of his existence where he comes face to face with the ultimate archenemy..

Encounter angels and demons, experience the end of the world and enter the character's soul, where he comes face-to-face with the ultimate archenemy - CEO. Will he make it out of this nightmarish world of insanity? Or will his enemies triumph and drag his soul to hell?

KING OF PAIN: What would it be like to travel into a world of death, insanity, depravity and violence INSIDE the human soul? Plagued by endless painful emotions, confusion, hatred and rage, a mind can, in essence, create an inner world of death more terrifying and vile than any movie or news report.

That internal film is always playing; unfettered by human laws or reasons to restrain, this 'soul footage' can roll horrific scenes of unrestrained mass murder and human debasement. Who is the wiser if he pillages and murders inside of his own mind? Who can imprison him for perpetrating these despicable yet abstract deeds? What of this inner world... this inner hell where everything and anything can come to pass? Is it all in the imagination, or are there (real) malevolent forces behind the curtain?

And so I was intrigued by "The Mind's Eye," the lense that goes above and beyond mere three-dimensional reality and can penetrate the illusion that, at closer scrutiny, is perhaps more real than what our physical eyes can display. Yet the horrors that appear before the Mind's Eye are a mere reflection of the destructive choices that the character makes. So what if we took this character and placed him in a hopeless path of self - destruction, a path so irrevocable and vile that it actually fueled the mental machinations?

And this inner hell that he creates is the only outlet that he has for the suffering and psychological pain that assaults him day and night, a direct result of the insanely-destructive choices that he makes, knowing that his demise looms, but pressing on nonetheless, and with glee and defiance.

What can he do to find relief but to reach out and soothe the misery with liquids, powders, pebbles and any other compound he can find? But that is not enough; the more he partakes, the more he craves, and the more he craves, the more his life falls apart, and the more he loses control, the more he is consumed with hate and rage, and as his emotions collapse, the more horrifying are the visions, dreams and apparitions, all leading to the very center of his existence where he meets his archenemy and tormentor.

And so, towards the end of this volume he says: "I crown myself the KINGOF PAIN, walking down my self-made Calvary with the world's crosses on myback, on the pathway to becoming my own self-righteous martyr." This statement was somewhat of a shock to me when it came because it showed that, somewhere inside his corrupted mind, there is an awareness that shows him flashes of truth and clarity.

Fascinating and terrifying!

This book brings the reader on a fantastic and captivating journey through a web of horror, violence, death, depravity and insanity within the human soul! The writer has the courage to describe a world of hatred, loathing, confusion and many other painful emotions, which can wreak havoc inside the human mind.

The author has a terrific imagination and captivating writing style which brings you on this mental roller coaster straight from the opening pages. The chapters are laid out in a succinct, readable and engaging style which will keep you turning the pages.

The inner world is demonstrated to be capable of operating as an entity which operates outside of generally held reality. All sorts of things are possible in this place, and when the descriptions of what can happen are placed before us, it is truly a horror story.

What I really like is that the author is going to develop this character further, it will be very interesting to see how the character develops into the future and what direction he will take. Will he break free from his misery? Highly recommended!

It was so great and exciting to read this book!I couldn't take off my eyes! Very interesting, original novel with not only horror, violence, but erotic and sexual scenes. Author has wonderful, rich and deep imagination! Just be careful to talk with demons in reality. It can be dangerously!

Candle Basics was just what I needed

I have purchased two other books on candle making and also gathered info online, but found that I was drowning in a sea of TMI! I couldn't get started because there was simply too much. This book, Candle Basics was just right. It kept things simple, easy to follow, and didn't leave me feeling confused and overwhelmed.
