You won't be disappointed

I read Poisoned in two hours, it's only about 80 pages and I was horrified that it was over and came here to buy The Mirror straight away. I read it in maybe 2 days and when I finished, I put down my kindle and stared at the wall. I knew I was going to get online again and buy The Huntsman, and I did, but I didn't start reading it right away. I did something I never do: I read Poisoned and The Mirror all over again.
I never have the patience to read a book a second time, even those much loved tomes that I keep on my bookshelf. I get a few pages in and I know what's coming and I just can't be bothered. But I went back and read every word of these first two books. I felt like I was trying to discover something, to get more clues out of the text. To be sure, Katherine Pine has a lot of material to work with for many volumes to come (I hope!). These two books have only scratched the surface of Snow White, presenting a unique point of view and layering in so much complexity in a sort of political thriller way.
As a heroine, I really like Snow White. She's sort of pathetic, sort of damaged and needy, but you see the reasons behind it, and it's not so overdone that you hate her (*cough*almostallteennovelheroines*cough*). She can and does manage herself in most situations, but she has been abandoned and wants familial love. Rose is a wonderful counterpoint to Snow White, because for as much as she cares about Snow White, SW's neediness is disgusting to her and that makes a lot of sense too. She wants to be a better version of herself, but she doesn't really have the tools to make that happen. Watching who she becomes is pretty cool. They are both really interesting and dynamic and I hope they don't compromise too much of their good and bad qualities in future books (which are hopefully coming soon?)
I just really really really dug this book. Even the second time around you could feel the story building to a lovely crescendo as it abruptly ended. Now I've read The Huntsman, and I will read it again soon.
