Loved this book

Really enjoyed this book, sat down to read a couple chapters and ended up reading over half the book at one setting, Good story, could almost see myself in that cabin with them. Love that is was a Christian based book, would even give this book to a early teen to read and not be worried about what is in the book.

Gentle, sweet love

This sweet Christian romance is exactly the light, feel good story I was in the mood for. It's easily read in an afternoon yet despite the short length the reader gets fully engaged. There is a natural flow to conversation, the scenes are descriptive and easily envisioned and the situation and characters are realistic. It's very well edited. The Christian thread is solid without preaching at the reader. As I sit here in my living room, the thermometer in the shade of my back porch reads one hundred eleven degrees (wonderful Arizona summer). A love story about being stranded by a blizzard was perfect. Expect to be left with a gentle sigh and a smile on your face. I recommend this book.

Got it to stick on my walls...

I got this issue to stick the cover and article on my walls (after reading it, of course). The only problem I have is the little white box in the corner of the cover, but that's shown in the picture, so I was already expecting it.

The condition was as good as it would've been if I bought it at the store. I liked it.

The Pillow Talk of a Great Mind

In my own opinion, Elizabeth Barrett Browning at her best and most seductive; lie there reading them in bed and let them ravish you! To read them, so intimately sweet as they seem, is almost to feel EBB herself there, her small form snuggling happily in your arms. Of course nobody would have known better than EBB herself what dulcet love songs these sonnets were, since she had never intended them for publication. They were secret, often quite confessional, love poems she wrote about her Robert while he was courting her, all unawares, and then for awhile after their marriage, in which they continued carrying on as two of recorded history's most passionate lovebirds.

It was only after Robert Browning somehow discovered and read them that he managed to convince EBB that they were really too good not to be published. He was right, of course. Even so, Elizabeth was sensitive enough about the matter to want to screen the work off under a somewhat misdirecting title. SONNETS FROM THE PORTUGESE might hope to create a casual impression that they were foreign translations of some mysterious sort ... which, of course, obviously they aren't, but who's philologically analysing; read and enjoy!

In fact, the name settled on was a mere lover's in-joke. Because of her somewhat exotic looks and olive-colored skin, Browning's pet name for EBB, other than the baby-talk "Ba," was "my Portugese;" hence the title. The collection was tremendously successful and deservedly so, and this edition of it, gorgeously illustrated, is very nice indeed.

You get what you pay for

It was free, so I downloaded it. You get what you pay for. The formatting is awful. Whoever formatted this needs to remember that poetry needs to be formatted as poetry, or it is just prose with some capital letters thrown in. This edition reads like a novel, not as a collection of poems. Find another edition and pay the buck or two for it -- it will be worth it. Now I need to figure out how to get this stinker off my Kindle download list... If I could give this no stars, I would, but I have to give it something.

A Wonderful Introduction to a Talented Poet

This is a wonderful collection of poetry by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, telling the story of her meeting Robert Browning and how she discovered her love for him, and his love for her. The introduction to this volume is especially helpful, in that it gives a brief summary of her life before she met and Browning, so that one can follow the narrative fairly easily. Some of the references in the poems are a bit obscure, so it would have been nice if there were notes accompyaning them, but on the whole this is a very nice introduction to a talented poet.

Far more than just a President. This should be required reading in schools

I know, you think that I am saying that just because I want to force my ideas and ethics upon everyone. Not so. Theodore Roosevelt was a man who exemplified everything we expect from a president and went beyond that expectation to the point he set an example for all of us to follow. Can you name a president in your lifetime that did that? I didn't think so. While many have written on Jefferson, Adams, Lincoln and the such (and understand I respect all of them), nowhere near as much attention has been drawn to a man that had the constitution of a lion and the heart of a saint. While I would be foolish to say Teddy was without any faults, I would say that his foibles in no way marred his overall character. He believed in hard work to get things done and didn't expect others to be the only ones to do it. His constitution and sense of adventure make for some interesting, entertaining and introspective reading. Rough Riders might be a good place to start, then read Letters to His Children followed by his Autobiography and work your way through the rest of his writings as you see fit. If you are member of PETA, I would suggest you not read his hunting tales. If you want to see the humor he embraced, read the Foolish Almanak and for a realistic look at people you should know about, his Hero Tales from American History will update you quite effectively.

Again, I am not trying to convince you Teddy is ready for canonization, but with the ever increasing dilution of American history in our schools and the demise of American heroes, particularly within our government, this will give you pause to reflect on the fact that there are those out there who were meant to be leaders and Theodore Roosevelt was unequivocally one.

Robin Hood Hacker Collection

I really enjoyed the books in this collection. I would put this author up there with the other good writers of adventure, such as Clive Cussler, Dan Brown and David Baldacci. However, I have never seen so many typos, such as the omission of words, incorrect words being used, duplication of words, etc, etc, etc. It reflects badly on the writer and the proofreaders. There is no excuse for such sloppy and amateurish editing.

Edit: I contacted the author's website about all the errors but they don't seem concerned about them. I'm concerned enough that I won't purchase any of the author's books in the future. I detest such amateurish editing.

James Bond on the other side of the law...

This series is all around really good. It is all about action, misdirection, and cracking codes. Underground societies, crazy prototype gadgets, FBI vs criminal love, these stories have it all. There is not that much in-depth computer hacking in these books, so even those who are not adept with computers can still enjoy them as they are more James Bond in their technology. I read Encrypted months before getting the whole series, and was impressed enough to give the rest a read and am really anticipating the next ones in the series!

HACKED
I read Encrypted many months ago and figured it was time to give the rest of the books in the series a try. The prequel, Hacked, definitely worked better as a short story than anything longer as it failed to impress. While the premise was sound and it gave a little bit of discovery from the FBI agent about the Robin Hood Hacker, I just don't think it was enough. It had action and implausible getaways, but I found that it didn't go back far enough; it was just another robbery by the hackers. Instead of being it's own book it could have been a prologue to Encrypted as it doesn't really add anything to the pre-development of the characters. I was hoping it went back even further to how Quirk and Ronnie started working together or how Zach ended up working on the case. It was just another crime where he was close to catching the Robin Hood Hacker, and not much more than that. Still a good short, but just not enough.

ENCRYPTED
As an old school hacker, the premise of this book stood out to me -- and didn't disappoint. It started off in the heat of action and the hunt of the Robin Hood Hacker while she stole over 3 billion dollars, and the action barely died down throughout the rest of the book. The descriptions of the scenes and toys used were excellent and I was really able to visualize everything that was going on; even the more fantastical toys and hacks were detailed in such a way that it all could be real. It was really hard to put this book down and made my reading sessions much longer than usual with "just one more chapter" being said to myself quite a bit. I am not one for love stories, but the way that it played into this book really helped push the story and action along and definitely didn't hamper the experience.

The only reason I didn't give the book a perfect score was what I believe to be just a brief amount of research that went into the book. On the tech side, it was not bad at pulling theories and putting them into action. On the disease control side it was less believable. Even with all the seemingly impossible hacks and situations that were survived, it was still the medical aspects that were more fantastical.

That being said, overall it is a stellar book! With non-stop action and adventure and enough plot twists to keep you guessing, Encrypted comes highly recommended by me to anyone that likes anything fast paced. You don't need to be geeky to understand any of the tech stuff which is an added bonus for most people as well.

BINARY
While the prequel to Encrypted left me wanting a lot more, I think this bridge between Encrypted and Cipher did more for the story. Like the rest, it takes place in the heat of action of a hack with a very messy get-away. What it does right is show the lengths that Ronnie and Zach are willing to go to not be found out by the rest of the FBI. Certain things remain unclear, but that is why this is just a bridge and not a full on book. While Hacked left me a little disappointed, Binary left me wanting more...so onto Cipher I go!

CIPHER
Cipher and Encrypted are very much the same book with the same goal against the same villain. Replace "plague" with "influenza" and "art" with "music" and there is very little difference in the general plot. The hidden hand are up to their usual "take over the world" tactics and the Robin Hood Hacker with her team are using 007 gadgets to stop it from happening. One of the things that I find lacking in this book over Encrypted is there is less hacking and deciphering code and more action with the hope of romance. I would not be so down on this book if it was a standalone book, but putting it next to its predecessor, it is like a mirror image with a few smudges.

That all being said, the weapons in this book were pretty thought out (even though overused) and the defences the Hidden Hand have in their base were neat ideas, like nanobots. The book itself was as well written as Encrypted with the same fun and Quirky personalities. Always in immediate danger, the action didn't really slow down. Even when it was about to slow down for something romantic or emotional, it doesn't go through with it and jumps right back to the action. While waiting for the next one in the series I am thinking about giving another Carolyn McCray book a try because I do like the way she makes everything real in the way she words it. While I recommend Encrypted a lot more than this one, this is not a bad story and the ending will have you anxious for the next one.

ZEROES
This short bridge really had me going. It takes place during a hack on a casino cruise ship. This short story keeps up the internal backlash in Zach's mind between sides and having to hide communications with Quirk from Warp. While there is a submersible, this is a much more brute force low-tech story; mainly because it is more Zach than anyone else. I thoroughly enjoyed this one much more than the other short stories and it had me guessing what the real situation was right until the end. After Cipher I was really looking forward to the next one in the series, Zeroes makes the 2 month wait for release seem way too long!

Technical inaccuracies detract from the story.

Overall, not too bad of a story. (I view the entire series as one longer story).

However, there were several times that the technical inaccuracies about computers/physics/etc pulled me out of the story.

Story was enjoyable, but not a "must finish" one. After a while, it got cliche and predictable that whatever situation they got put in, another toy would come out and save the day.

Reasonable value for the price of the "box set", but wouldn't buy separately.

Good Sequel In Time Travel Romance

This story is a good sequel to the original, and I expect that there will be another sequel involving Rory. The time travel genre uses a train to make the leap from present day to turn-of-the-century Victorian times. The element in this story that creates interest beyond time travel is medical practices from the past and modern times. As in the first book, there is much ado about socially-acceptable behaviors, and there is some effort put into explaining styles and monetary complications that time travelers face.

As good as the story is, there are several grammatical errors which could be accounted for by type-o issues, auto-correct and missing words. A good editor would provide a more professional publication, but readers will easily figure out the corrections and should not be alienated considering the excellent price on this book.

Good, light reading for the person who enjoys the time travel romance genre, it would be recommended to those readers not seeking in-depth scientific explanations for every occurence.

Loved reading this story and connecting with characters from other stories. I was afraid it was just going to be a copy cat of the first train story but the author threw in the right amount surprises!

Excellent book in a fun series.

I have always enjoyed time travel stories. This series using a train as the portal is a unique twist. The decisions whether to stay or go back added some suspense and the love stories are nicely done.

A great read!

This book provides an excellent overview of how to discover your passions and the importance of pursuing them. I really enjoyed this and learned alot from it. I think everyone would benefit from reading this and even from reviewing it on a regular basis. We can all use a reminder of this concept from time to time.

Other books have a habit of steering you this and that way before getting to the nut and bolts of what they are trying to say. This book is a quick easy read, that gets straight to the point. I would look no further for an amazing read, learning experience, and confidence builder.

This e-book is more of a long article than a book itself. As the title states, it gives you three questions that help you guide your search of finding your purpose. It helped me to a point, but it ends leaving you hanging and wanting more. Again, it gives you some clues on where to look for an answer.
